of the tractor-trailer. we are expecting that to be moved. you heard karen talking about how there is movement on this portions -- portion of i-95 southbound. we've seen traffic getting through, looks like one lane, and now they are starting to spread out. i want to give a look at this video to give you a vantage point from the wall. the tractor-trailer is in the wall. you can see the damage from that view. the fire truck that was involved in the accident had damage to the bottom of it. the looks like the rear of the fire truck is crushed including the tiller the portion of the fire truck where the driver sits to take care of the steering in the back. the crash happened on the southbound lanes of i-95 north of washington avenue and penns landing.
ladder 16 was responding to a two-vehicle accident, they were providing a buffer to the emergency vehicles that responded that's when appears to the tractor-trailer crashed into them. that was after 3:00 a.m., the accident happened ten minutes later, they were not on the scene for that long. here's the tractor-trailer driver lost i don't like jackknifing and striking ladder 16 injuring at least five firefighters. back out here live, you can see there's another tow truck specifically made to move large vehicles that has arrived on the scene. that's going to remove the trailer portion of it. it is in part of wall, so we're not sure whole have to come out here maybe penndot to see the structure, traffic is beginning to move in the southbound lanes. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." back to you. >> thank you, annie. katherine scott is live at

firefighter arrived. he was secured to the gurney and his eyes were open. the five firefighters were providing a safety buffer as other companies worked on the previous accident on i-95 when the tractor-trailer hit them in the rear of the truck. >> they were able to get out of the way, unfortunately, apparatus still took the brunt of the force of the accident. all the members are okay, they are here to be checked out for observes observation. the captain couldn't comment on what the injuries were, they are inside and all five are in stable condition. we're live outside hanheman university hospital. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> good news, katherine. developing right now, police are on the hunt for shooter or shooters who opened fire on a group of people including a pregnant woman in

in yellow and red in southern new castle county delaware, a little bit of a pushing off coast. more rain coming in from the west. let's head outside and even in places where it isn't raining we have damp road conditions and a lot of cloud cover above, there's the commodor barry bridge. here's a look at the rain, again, the heavier stuff appears to be exiting southern new castle county delaware and pushing into northern cumberland county and southern salem county, cape may is in and out of showers and every now and then it's steadier. most of the rain we have in southeastern pennsylvania is lighter, but it's more widespread and extending with light sprinkles and showers northern bucks and northern montgomery county and half of chester county and more stuff on the way, it looks like the morning commute generally speaking is going to be damp with on and off showers we get a midday lull i'll show you that in a minute. 70 in allentown. 672 in wilmington, 75 -- 72 in
wilmington. 75 in cape may. on and off rain through the rush hour. midday, cloudy and sunny breaks possible. a lull in the rain. unfortunately for the last couple of days, the model wants to redevelop additional showers in the afternoon. after 1:00 p.m., look out for this. not raining everywhere at once, but some of you could see this. later this evening, it's done at the shore, we might squeeze out late day sunshine in philadelphia. we can kick the clouds over on the other side of i-95 quick enough. up in the lehigh valley, 82 degrees, spotty showers and cloudy skies, and late day sun. at the shore, 78 degrees, ocean temperature, 78. very mild. rip currents in the water, cloudy skies for the most part and on and off showers, not the best beach day. 82 is the high in philadelphia. not as warm as recently. mostly cloudy, humidity dropping later in the day, showers in the interim off and on straight through the afternoon.
66 is the overnight temperature, we start to see stars and less humid conditions. that sets us up for a nice one tomorrow. tropical storm hermine formed yesterday, it looks like it will become a category one hurricane late today and into wee hours of friday morning when it makes landfall in the panhandle. a couple of days ago this was going between tampa and jacksonville. now the trend continues as the cold front comes through and not pick this up and kick it out to sea. it will stay closer to us. once it gets closer to us, there's a blocking area of high pressure that will steer it toward our coastline. the latest model track is to keep this off the coast, but it could be close enough to give us rain and wind as we head in through part of the weekend. spaghetti plot models are keeping it off the coast. a lot of uncertainty of what it
does when it gets close to us because of the blocking high pressure. changes with the hermine track is shifting westward and riding up the east coast it will be here saturday into sunday and monday. coastal flooding and erosion a likely possibility. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, 82 is the high, pop-up showers off and on through the day and into the afternoon. thunderstorm here or there, looks like we'll dry in time for the eagles. comfortable tomorrow, beautiful day on friday, high of 82. saturday things start to change, increasing clouds and the possibility of rain at night. the best chance over by the coast with periods of heavy rain, but it depends on the track. sunday, windy, periods of rain possible, but does that mean the entire area? maybe, maybe not, depends on how close the storm is. monday labor day is a day of improvement. but that depends on the track.

i-95 at penns landing. the action cam live right now. you can see cars are passing through, we are seeing progress. now, this is where a jackknifed tractor-trailer rear ended a fire truck acting as a buffer for emergency responders. all five firefighters injured on ladder truck 16 are in stable condition. while the cars were stuck on i-95 for 3 hours, these progress there, as well.
>> reporter: this is the traffic that was stuck, we're seeing the last stuck vehicles getting by on the left-hand side. these people have been sitting on i-95 for three hours, now they are allowing them to move by in the left left lane. that was the end of the stuck traffic right there. here's the jackknifed tractor-trailer. that's the tractor-trailer blocking all lanes. the cab kind of hit a wall right here. that's why police tell me they are having a tough time trying to figure out how to get it out blocking all lanes i-95 southbound at penns landing. after they move it, they also they have to get penndot out there to make sure the wall is okay, too. it's been shut down for three hours. don't know when it will reopen. this is the heavy tow truck getting it ready to see if they can start to move it. we could see progress with it, but not yet. this is the accident scene of
two separate accidents. the first accident was involving two vehicles. emergency worker was helping those people that's when the tractor-trailer loses control and barrels into them. what they are doing now is forcing all traffic on to the vine street express way so no more traffic gets stuck. it's a parking lot on i-95 southbound, we can see you this, this is how jammed we are as we look live on i-95 at girard. southbound traffic is at least moving, but you don't want to get in the end of that line. what would -- what you should do is stick to the columbus boulevard or the schuylkill expressway eastbound. we posted a video of everything happening and explanation of how it occurred on our 6abc facebook page and my facebook page, as well him go on there to get the latest. i-95 southbound still officially shut down, they are forcing
everybody off on to the vine street expressway. >> a new 6abc franklin and marshall poll is out today and it shows the presidential race tightening slightly in pennsylvania. hillary clinton leads donald trump 47 to 40%. it's down from the lead she held after the democratic convention. in the race for the u.s. senate seat, the polls have katie mcginlty with a 5% lead over pat toomey up from aen one pointed a advantage in late july. f and m found five one in five voters still undecided.

this tractor-trailer is wedged too far into the wall, or how they will get it out before they reopen it. >> reporter: this is i-95 approaching the vine street expressway. all traffic is being forced on to the vine street expressway into old city that's creating problems there. let's switch the camera again, i-95 jammed solid approaching allegheny to the vine street expressway. earlier we were watching people turn around and drive backwards. the stuck traffic is let through, now you're looking at heavy volume heading toward the vine street expressway. we're jammed on the vine. at this hour people are hardly moving. as you head toward the schuylkill expressway the vine is jammed because everybody is forced off on to the vine. these delays will spill back to the ben franklin bridge. it's a mess, we're seeing the trig -- trigger affect of are

hospital where the firefighters are being treated. >> annie mccormick is live on the scene. >> reporter: matt, we want to show you the scene, there's two tow trucks, one is attached to the tractor of the tractor-trailer. we saw movement moments ago. that might be pulling out of there. we saw the traffic moving about a half-hour ago that was just the stuck traffic. here's what it looks like from the ground. we're told that the tractor-trailer is partly in the wall. you can see the rest of the damage from the ground of it. ladder 16 that was involved in the accident. the fire truck has damaged to the bottom. looks like the rear of the fire truck and the tiller. that's where the firefighter sits to take care of steering from the rear of the truck. now, the crash happened on the southbound lanes of i-95 in the portion that is north of
washington avenue and penns landing. now, ladder 16 was responding to a two-vehicle accident they were out there to provide a safety pufer -- buffer for other emergency vehicles that did respond. that accident happened around 3:00 a.m., it was ten minutes later that the tractor-trailer driver appeared to lose control and jackknifing and striking ladder 16 and injuring five firefighters. they were only on the scene a little bit. they moved a little bit more, the tow truck that does have the tractor attached. at this point they are looking at what they can do, looks like part of it was embedded in the wall. so they may have to have penndot come out here and make sure it is structural sound. progress is being made. we'll see how much longer it will take to pull all this out. reporting live in south philadelphia, and channel 6 "action news." >> "action news" reporter, katherine scott joins us live from hanheman hospital where the

spots, especially in south jersey and delaware. taking a look outside, even where it isn't raining, the surface is wet from earlier showers. in philadelphia we're beginning to build light rain back into the picture. here's the overview we have heavier stuff pushing away from atlantic city and cape may. there's another band in dover, delaware, and southern new castle county. most of the heavier stuff is in cumberland county and heading toward cape may. a little blip up toward the ac expressway. all the precipitation in the northern and western suburbs and philadelphia is fairly light. there is steadier precipitation coming through harrisburg and lancaster. basically you'll be in and out of the this sort of pattern through the morning rush hour. 74 degrees is the current temperature. the dewpoint in the low 70s. it's muggy as you step outside. winds out of the south at 5 miles per hour. here's future tracker 6 latest model run. it looks like between now and 9:00 a.m. you're still a little
damp and midday at 12:00 fairly cloudy, but a lull in the precipitation. later this afternoon we have a chance of redeveloping showers. at new time will it be raining anywhere, it will be spotty, but brief downpours are possible. 7:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m., most of the action is by the coast. we'll squeeze out sunshine in parts of the region, we'll see about that. temperatures will not be as high, in the 70s through midday. in the afternoon, high of 82. rain in the morning another batch in the afternoon. hopefully sun comes back. 82 in allentown. 82 in philadelphia. close to that all the way through the i-95 corridor and upper 70s down the shore. the shore not a great beach day and clouds and spotty showers and heavy surf and rip currents if you're on the beach you can look at temperatures in the 70s. down to the tropics we go all eyes on tropical storm hermine
which did form yesterday and expected to develop into a category one hurricane later today and tonight. notice the change in this track, a couple of days ago it was the dinners between tampa and jacksonville, yesterday was farther north now farther north because it looks like the front coming through up here is going to get off the coast before it catch it and kick it off the coast. that means the storm will hug the coast and get pushed back in thanks to a blocking area of high pressure into the weekend. saturday and sunday we'll be dealing with the storm off the coast, the most likely track has irrelevant off coast it will give us rain. the spaghetti plot models are sticking with the same idea. you can see a lot of them don't know what to do with the storm sunday into monday because of the blocking high pressure.
